Glossary
The vocabulary used throughout the peptide profiles, in plain language.
- BAC water
- Bacteriostatic water — sterile water with 0.9% benzyl alcohol, allowing multi-use vials.
- COA
- Certificate of Analysis — a lab report stating purity and identity for a specific lot.
- GHRH
- Growth hormone-releasing hormone; analogues raise the amplitude of natural GH pulses.
- GHRP
- Growth hormone-releasing peptide; ghrelin-receptor agonists that trigger GH release.
- GIP
- Glucose-dependent insulinotropic polypeptide, an incretin hormone receptor target.
- GLP-1
- Glucagon-like peptide-1, the incretin pathway behind most metabolic research peptides.
- Half-life
- Time for plasma concentration to fall by half; drives dosing frequency.
- HPLC
- High-performance liquid chromatography — the standard purity assay for peptides.
- IGF-1
- Insulin-like growth factor 1, the downstream mediator of most growth-hormone effects.
- Lyophilised
- Freeze-dried powder form; stable until reconstituted with a diluent.
- mcg / mg
- Micrograms and milligrams. 1 mg = 1000 mcg — the most common dosing-math error.
- Reconstitution
- Dissolving lyophilised powder in diluent to a known concentration.
- Subcutaneous
- Administration into the fat layer beneath the skin, used in most protocols.
- Titration
- Gradual dose escalation used to limit gastrointestinal and tolerance effects.
- U-100
- Insulin syringe scale where 100 units equal 1 mL.
